The Meads of Asphodel are back on track & will return with a new album due for release in early 2027.
The new album completes the trilogy that began with the 2010 album, The Murder of Jesus the Jew [Candlelight Records]. The second part came in 2013 with Sonderkommando, a deep observation of the Holocaust.
These two releases revealed the strangulating influence the much-coveted land of Palestine has reverberated across our warmongering world, whether directly or indirectly. Firstly, the contagious effects of Yahweh, and secondly, the favourable effects of the Holocaust’s influence on the creation of the state of Israel.
Metatron’s lyrical bite has never shied away from controversy, though when dissecting his vision, one can only accept its historical accuracy without bias.
J.D Tait carries this vision with a musical sabre, slashing at the senses and reconfiguring what the listener expects into true Meads dynamics.
‘Gazageddon’ is the closing chapter of this all-encompassing influence: a desert-dwelling tribe of Hebrews that have, and are influencing the shaping of our world.
From its own sacred writings aligned only to its own people to the world-dominating children it spawned, Christianity and Islam.
Voltaire wrote, “that people who believe absurdities are more likely to commit atrocities.” This is true for the colossus we know as God who drowns the world in scriptural gibberish under the numbing specter of heaven.
Gazageddon is a lesson in how the weaponizing of a God can fuck up the application of reason. Where disproportionate retaliation has recurred throughout history.
How a deed to land, sanctioned by archaic writings, can displace a people.
But most importantly, how a race can be so embedded in what we know as the Holocaust that inadvertently gave them their road back into Palestine, only to inflict a similar hatred on the indigenous Arabs who had lived in relative coexistence with Jews and Christians alike.
This is not an antisemitic album. This is an album of truth and a reflection of the human need to murder with impunity, and this applies to both Arab and Jew, and every other race scurrying about on this little planet set amongst a universe of planets that outnumber every grain of sand on land and ocean.
The Meads do not thank nor scold a man-made God for this shitstorm of cruelty. Only humanity drinks from its own cup of hate-tainted piss.
